Ayush Mhatre Details Mentorship from Rohit Sharma

India U19 World Cup-winning captain Ayush Mhatre revealed he received leadership mentorship from senior star Rohit Sharma following his appointment. After texting Rohit for advice, Mhatre was invited to the senior captain's home, where they discussed team management tactics for an extended period. Rohit also spent time speaking with Mhatre’s father during the visit.

Mhatre, who led India to their sixth U19 title, credited Rohit’s accessibility and humility for his development. The young batter, who made his first-class debut for Chennai Super Kings in 2025, also noted his initial hesitation when meeting legendary former captain MS Dhoni during his early career progression.
