Akhilesh Yadav Calls for Unity Ahead of Rajya Sabha Polls

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav urged political unity for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, stating it is a time to move past earlier grievances. His remarks follow reports that the party intends to field three candidates for the 10 available seats in Uttar Pradesh, a move that could trigger cross-voting. The party has already nominated Ram Gopal Yadav and Reliance executive Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani.

While the BJP-led alliance is positioned to win seven seats, the Samajwadi Party hopes to secure two with Congress support. SP members have claimed several BJP MLAs are interested in switching parties, setting the stage for a competitive election cycle.
