Jericho Repair Shop Launches in Oxford to Combat Waste

The inaugural Jericho Repair Shop will open this Saturday at St Barnabas CE Primary School, offering free repairs for bicycles, electrical items, computers, and clothing. Organiser John Mair launched the initiative to encourage sustainability and discourage residents from discarding broken goods.

Operating between 10:00 and 12:00 BST, the event relies on volunteer expertise ranging from knife sharpening to sewing. Mair hopes to establish the shop as a permanent monthly hub, provided the initial turnout demonstrates sufficient community demand. While services are free, attendees are encouraged to provide donations to cover advertising and rental costs for future sessions.
