Jamia Millia Islamia Students Detained Amid Ongoing Protest

Tensions escalated at Jamia Millia Islamia on Sunday as police detained students at Gate No. 7. The demonstration is part of an ongoing agitation that began October 12, with students demanding the restoration of the Jamia Millia Islamia Students Union and the removal of the Chief Proctor.

The university administration recently shifted classes online and restricted access to campus facilities, a move protesters allege is a tactic to clear the campus. Students argue that the absence of an elected union leaves them without a formal platform to address grievances regarding administrative corruption and academic accountability.
