Bhutan Dedicates Stupa to PM Modi During Record-Breaking Construction

Bhutanese volunteers constructed 108 Jangchub Chortens in nine hours to establish the spiritual foundation for the Gelephu Mindfulness City. King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk dedicated Chorten number 76 to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing his steadfast support for the project. The number was chosen to mark the Prime Minister’s recent 76th birthday.

Approximately 40,000 volunteers participated in the initiative, which saw the 15-meter-tall steel stupas erected along the Mau Chhu River. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju attended the ceremony on behalf of India, highlighting the deep spiritual and civilizational bonds between the two nations as the country advances its economic hub vision.
